Things we’re learning about……
The students in room 106 are becoming amazing readers. They are reading high frequency words and building simple sentences using these words.
The students are having fun learning letter/sounds. They enjoy singing the songs for the consonants and vowels. Please try to have your child sing the songs to you. It is excellent practice and exciting for him/her to show you what he/she is learning.
When we learn a new letter sound, we make a list of words that begin with the sound. We also look around the classroom to see what we can find that begins with that letter sound. This is also a great activity to do at home with your child.
In math, we have started our next unit titled "Patterns". The students will learn how to identify, describe, copy, and extend simple patterns. They will use concrete materials to demonstrate their understanding of patterns. Exploring patterns is a foundational preparation to observing similarities and differences in mathematical problems in algebra.
